Working on a DVD menu for Gamma Ray for a movie called “Executive Koala”. Not sure how to describe the movie other than its exactly what the title says plus 4(on a scale of 1-5).
But, I needed to loop some animation stills from the original time of about 1sec -> 45sec. So instead of duplicating the layer 45 times and sequencing it I just popped in this code: loop_out(”cycle”,0)
You put that on the layer you want to loop after enabling time remapping and precomping it into a layer of the desired length. The code goes on the Time Remap function in the layer.
It comes from this tutorial on Creative Cow. A tutorial I’ve gone back to many times for the basics.
More on “Executive Koala” as it becomes available!
So this is what I am currently doing.
Interning at Brickyard . This is pretty cool. They are an awesome company that does post production editing/compositing/etc. work on commercials for many big clients. As part of the deal I get access to Flame machines and have been working through some tutorials from FxPHD to familiarize myself with the operation. I have also been helping to copy/transfer and catalog the spots they have worked on.
Also helping out at Aspect DVD magazine, a bi-annual publication that focuses on new media art that has been documented through video footage. I help build the DVD menus and navigation and also edit some of the video and audio footage that will be used as content on the disc.
I have also freelanced at Gamma Ray Digital and Modulus DVD doing DVD motion menus and logo builds. It’s very fun work and I hope to do some more in the future.
This was a freelance job for Modulus DVD. It is the logo animation that comes up at the beginning of the movie. The revisions for this came along while trying to get the size of the sun just right as compared to the size of the riders. It was a short job but a fun one.
These are titles done for a friends movie “Put Him in the Ground”. His name is Dan Vang, he wrote and directed this movie and gave me the chance to do the titles.
This was my first time motion tracking titles and working with HD video.(both are time consuming) All I did was the actual titles I did not work with the video/color/music so I can’t take credit for those, but I think the whole thing came out very nice. I also ran into problems with going from 24 to 29.97 frames, mainly because I wasn’t paying attention, but have since learned a great deal about 3/2 pulldown, fields, and the like. Which probably should have been something taught in school at some point (maybe I was out being creative that day!)
This is my current real. It is the summation of my work up till the end of ‘07. Everything in this blog is what I have been working on since then.
